Soderberg shot an eagle and four birdies for a second-round 66 and an opening 63, and he has yet to lose a shot at the Vasatorps Golfklubb, where 78 men and 78 women competed for a prize and trophy.
Soderberg, at 15 under, was three shots ahead of Scott Jamieson, who shot 65, and one shot behind after France's Julien Guerrier, who shot a bogey-free 64.
“This is a very different situation than yesterday,” Soderberg said.
“It felt like I struggled a little bit in the middle eight or nine holes, making par on every hole, but then I played the last seven holes really well.
“I hit a lot of loose tee shots, missed greens and didn’t give myself a lot of chances, but on the back nine I started hitting the ball pretty well again, which was good.”
Soderberg was six shots ahead when he signed his card and 10 ahead of Jamieson, but the Scot from Florida made eight birdies and a bogey on the ninth hole, the final hole of the day, to stay in contention for a second DP World Tour title.
“I know he shot 15 under,” Jamieson said, “and I saw the scoreboard when I walked up to the first tee, so he obviously had a great two days.”
“It was nice to be able to come out and shoot a low round. I hit my irons really well. I think I only missed one green, and unfortunately that was my last hole.
“I just putted a couple more putts than I did yesterday. I created just as many chances for myself and snuck in a couple more putts.
“In terms of the wind direction, there was definitely a lot of crosswind so that made it difficult. It made hitting the ball really important. If you got it wrong, you got it really wrong.
“I feel like I’m in top form right now, which is great, and I hope it lasts forever.”
Former champion Linn Grant was the highest-placed player on the Ladies European Tour, tied for fourth at nine under, with the 2022 champion building on her home 67 with a 68 in the second round.
