It was a historic day not only for New Zealand, but also for the Reeve family. On a busy evening, while all the rugby fans were glued to the television, Mike and Robin Reeve were waiting for their baby in hospital. Mother Anne Reeve was in labour, and just hours after the All Blacks lifted the Rugby World Cup trophy, Anneke came into the world.
Anneke Reeve was born on 20 June 1987 at 9.47pm (New Zealand Times) and the All Blacks won the World Cup. From that day to now, Anneke Reeve has been an avid rugby fan. Her late father discovered the connection between Reeve and rugby through the following statement: “The weird thing is, she’s been a football fanatic ever since, no doubt about it. I think it’s in her blood.”
On the other hand, her mother Robin Reeve revealed that Fox held her until the cup was raised and announced that it was “destiny” Annick has been involved with rugby since she was born and having missed out on New Zealand’s huge win in 1987, Fox decided to attend the 2011 game, which the All Blacks also won.
Interestingly, she brought great luck to the New Zealand national team, as they won against Reeve there. In any case, this was just the beginning of her relationship with rugby. Many years after she was born, Anneke Reeve was surprised to discover another strange relationship, which would become the most important one in her life.
How did Anneke Ryff and Ryan Fox meet?
Annick Fox’s life is full of coincidences. It was destined that she would always start with rugby as the most important thing in her life. Rugby also connected her with her then boyfriend Ryan Fox. How did they connect? Coincidentally, one of Fox’s father Grant Fox was a member of the 1987 All Blacks team.
The two met in college when Anneke Ryff was preparing to become a physical therapist. Ryff recalled that everyone was talking about Fox coming to the party. She said, “Interestingly, before we met, we heard that the son of a famous All Black player was also playing in the same tournament.”
She later revealed to the New Zealand Herald that her friend wanted the two to meet, which they did, but Reeve clarified that was not the reason she decided to stay with the professional player. The two have been together since he was an amateur player. Reeve later left her profession to play with Fox on the DP World Tour and now on the PGA Tour.
She and Fox have been together for nearly two decades. Reeve has been there when he wins on the DP World Tour, most recently at the BMW PGA Championship. The couple has been together through good times and bad, but when did they get married?
