HAMILTON, Ontario — Rookie Robert MacIntyre won his first PGA Tour title at the RBC Open. MacIntyre won this week with his father, Dougie, as his emergency caddie. It was a cool story for the two-time DP World Tour champion and member of the European Ryder Cup team in Rome.
But it also came with a lucrative seven-figure payday. McIntyre took home $1.692 million from a $9.4 million purse. Not bad for a week’s work and for the 27-year-old pride of Auburn, Scotland. In fact, his previous 15 fights had more than doubled that, totaling $1,133,146.
