The DP World Tour has now had three European events, including the Sodeo Open won by Spain’s Nacho Elvira, the European Open won by Britain’s Laurie Canter, and most recently the Volvo Cars Scandinavian Mixed Championship, which was dramatically won by Sweden’s Lynn Grant of the Ladies European Tour.
Elvira currently leads the European swing state, with three qualifying tournaments to go, culminating in the final at the BMW International Open in the first week of July.
What does it mean?
The new DP World Tour schedule divides the season into five innovative seasons – the Opening Season, the International Season, the Asian Season, the European Season and the Final Season.
Each Swing has its own special feature, and each “Mini Badge of Merit” champion will receive a prize of $200,000.
After the Global Swing phase, an additional $1 million prize pool will be shared by the top 10 players from the Race to Dubai who have competed in at least eight “regular” Global Swing events, excluding the Majors and the co-sanctioned Genesis Scottish Open.
Next up is the back nine, where all swing champions qualify.
The Back Nine features nine of the DP World Tour’s most historic championships and the National Open, and will be played from August to October 2024.
In addition to exempt DP World Tour members, the top 15 non-members of the top 70 in the PGA Tour FedEx Cup standings are eligible to play in these events and earn berths in DP World Tour Championships.
The top 110 players in the Race to Dubai following the conclusion of the back nine in October will retain their DP World Tour cards for the 2025 season, while the top 70 will qualify for the DP World Tour Play-offs in the UAE.
The play-offs include the $9 million Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links in Abu Dhabi from November 7-10, 2024, which will determine the top 50 players from the Race to Dubai, who will advance to the season-ending $10 million DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai from November 14-17, 2024.
At the end of the season, the top ten DP World Tour members in the Race to Dubai final standings (others not exempt) will receive PGA Tour cards for the 2025 season.
Finally, the top ten players in the Dubai race will share a prize pool of $6 million.
There you have it!
