Auburn’s path to the national championship is set.
It’s head-to-head from now on for the Tigers.
The No. 1 Auburn men’s golf team advanced out of stroke play at the NCAA national championship tournament on Monday in Carlsbad, Calif., finishing in sixth place in stroke play to take the No. 6 seed into the match-play portion of the tournament.
Auburn faces third-seeded Virginia in the national championship quarterfinals Tuesday morning. The teams are scheduled to tee off at 7:40 a.m. locally, which is 9:40 a.m. Central.
If the Tigers advance, they’ll play the winner of No. 2 Vanderbilt and No. 7 Ohio State in the semifinal round on Tuesday afternoon.
The championship match is scheduled for Wednesday.

Auburn won the SEC Championship earlier this postseason and has been a top-ranked team down the stretch of the season, aided by freshman sensation Jackson Koivun. Koivun finished stroke play at two-under, finishing in a tie for second place on the individual leader only one stroke behind individual national champion Hiroshi Tai of Georgia Tech.
As a team, Auburn shot 19-over over four rounds during stroke play, with the four-over fourth round getting the Tigers into the sixth-seeded spot.
