Players from the DP World and Ladies European Tour compete for the same trophy at the Scandinavian Mixed Tournament, which this year marks the fourth time the tournament has been held in Sweden.
This week, the LIV Houston Open and the PGA Tour Memorial Tournament on the other side of the Atlantic will inevitably attract a lot of attention, but perhaps the most attractive one is the Scandinavian Mix Tournament returning to Europe.
The Scandinavian Mixed Championship is jointly sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the Ladies European Tour and is the only tournament on the European golf tour where the top male and female players compete on the same course for the same trophy and prize money.
Hosted by Swedish golf folk heroes Henrik Stenson and Annika Sorenstam, the event offers real competition for both men and women. Two men have won the three editions to date, Dale Whitnell (2023) and Jonathan Caldwell (2021), while popular female local player Linn Grant won in 2022.
Where is the Scandinavian Mix held?
The Scandinavian Combined Championship will be held for the first time at Vasatops Golf Club in Helsingborg, Sweden, where the two championship courses have previously hosted both the men’s and women’s European Tour events, with former world No. 1s Annika Sorenstam, Sevi Ballesteros and Greg Norman all having triumphed on those courses.
What is the format of the Scandinavian Mix?
The 156 players, including 78 men and 78 women, will compete in a 72-hole standard stroke play tournament, with eliminations after 36 holes (two rounds). The player with the lowest score in four rounds will win the tournament.
Who will compete in the Scandinavian Mix?
On the women’s side, current Order of Merit winner Bronte Law is gaining momentum, as is five-time LET champion Linn Grant, who will compete again in an effort to reclaim the title she won in 2022. Joining Grant will be Swedish and Solheim Cup teammate Madelene Sagstrom.
On the men’s side, recent Sodeo Open champion Nacho Elvira will compete alongside defending champion Dale Whitnell and Swedish powerhouse Jesper Svensson on the Race to Dubai list.
Who will win the Scandinavian Mix?
Selected odds: To be determined
How much will the Scandinavian Mixed category winner receive?
The winner of Helsingborg will receive $340,000 of the $2 million purse. Both tours offer Official World Golf Ranking points, as well as points for the Race to Dubai and LET Merit Tournaments, and Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup points.
