2024 U.S. Open Predictions: Surprising Picks and Odds from Expert Golf Model

The 2024 U.S. Open will be held at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina starting on Thursday, June 13. Known for its length, narrow fairways, and heavy rough, Pinehurst No. 2 will challenge golfers with thousands of wire grass plants in sandy native areas. The last U.S. Open at Pinehurst saw Martin Kaymer win, with notable finishes from Rickie Fowler, Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, and Brooks Koepka. This year, Scottie Scheffler is the favorite at 4-1, followed by Rory McIlroy (9-1), Xander Schauffele (10-1), and Koepka (12-1).

Before making any picks for the 2024 U.S. Open, it’s worth considering the predictions from SportsLine’s proven model. This model, created by DFS expert Mike McClure, has accurately forecasted numerous PGA Tour events and is up nearly $9,000 on its best bets since June 2020.

The model’s successful predictions include Scheffler’s victories at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and The Players Championship. It also correctly picked Hideki Matsuyama to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational, hitting a +9000 bet. Additionally, it forecasted Jon Rahm’s wins at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express, as well as his 2023 Masters victory. Overall, the model has nailed 12 majors heading into the weekend, including the last three Masters and the 2024 PGA Championship.

Key Predictions for the 2024 U.S. Open

One major surprise from the model is that Brooks Koepka, despite being a favorite, is predicted to struggle and barely make the top 10. Koepka, a two-time U.S. Open champion, has not been a significant factor in recent majors, finishing outside the top 25 in his last three. His recent performances and past struggles at Pinehurst suggest looking elsewhere for better value bets.

On the other hand, Joaquin Niemann, a 25-1 longshot, is projected to make a strong run at the title. Niemann has been in excellent form, with seven consecutive top-25 finishes worldwide before the PGA Championship. Although he is still seeking his first top-10 finish in a major, his consistent performance in recent tournaments makes him a valuable pick for those seeking a potential high payoff.

Additional Picks and Odds

The model also highlights two other golfers with odds of 20-1 or longer who could make a strong impact. For detailed picks and to see the projected leaderboard, visit SportsLine.

Here are some of the odds for the 2024 U.S. Open:

  • Scottie Scheffler: 4-1
