The BMW PGA Championship is the flagship event of the DP World Tour season, and for good reason.
The tournament, which began in 1955, has a decades-long history and its permanent venue is Wentworth, one of England's most respected courses and home to the DP World Tour.
As one of the tour’s five prestigious Rolex Series events, it also offers one of the biggest purses of the season and regularly attracts some of the world’s best players. The 2024 edition will be no exception, with many of the field being PGA Tour regulars.
Among them is world number three Rory McIlroy, who won the event in 2014 and currently tops the DP World Tour’s season-long Race to Dubai standings.
Another PGA Tour regular and BMW PGA Championship champion, Ryan Fox, who won the 2023 title by one shot over Tyrell Hatton and Aaron Rye, is also in action this week.
Another former champion who usually plays on the PGA Tour is 2022 champion Shane Lowry, while eight-time PGA Tour champion Billy Horschel, who won the year before, is also in action, along with 2015 champion Byeong Hun An.

There was also an appearance by Tommy Fleetwood, who finished tied for 16th at the Tour Championship, which concluded the FedEx Cup playoffs, while another notable player from the PGA Tour was fellow Briton Matt Fitzpatrick.

Robert McIntyre, who was a regular on the DP World Tour until the end of the 2023 season, became one of 10 players to receive a PGA Tour card and he made a huge impact on the tour with his first tour victory at the RBC Canadian Open. The Scotsman will be looking to get his third win of the year here after winning the co-certified Genesis Scottish Open.
Another 2024 PGA Tour champion this week is Farmers Insurance Open champion Matthieu Pavon, while this year’s Valspar Championship winner Peter Malnati will also be in action.
Other familiar names on the PGA Tour include 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott and Justin Rose, who won the U.S. Open later that year.

Sepp Straka and Nicolai Hojgaard, who played for Europe in the 2023 Ryder Cup, are two other regular PGA Tour players in action this week.
Several players who have only sporadically appeared on the PGA Tour this year but have a long history will also be in the field, including three-time major champion Padraig Harrington, 2016 Masters champion Danny Willett and two-time European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald.
