The 2024 DP World Tour season is drawing to a close, and while only one golfer can win the Race to Dubai, 10 qualified competitors are vying for another particularly lucrative prize – a 2025 PGA Tour card.
Confirmed ahead of the 2023 season, the Ten Cards Project is a byproduct of the strategic alliance between the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour, offering top European players the opportunity to earn the right to play in the United States next season.
Any golfer who has not yet earned an exemption and is ranked high in the Race to Dubai rankings will be able to obtain one, helping them compete against many of the world’s best players for higher prize money.
Matthieu Pavon and Robert MacIntyre were the first beneficiaries of the program, with both winning their first PGA Tour titles in their rookie seasons.
Pavon won the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, while MacIntyre won twice – the first at the Canadian Open and the second at the co-sanctioned Scottish Open.
But come 2024, there will be a new wave of eager pros vying for not only a spot in the Race to Dubai, but also a spot on the PGA Tour.
South Africa is currently leading the “Ten Card Plan” Sriston Lawrencefinishing second to Rory McIlroy in the Race to Dubai. Lawrence has finished runner-up four times this season, but surprisingly, he has yet to win a single tournament. However, he did perform well at the 152nd British Open, finishing fourth.
Nevertheless, he and Jesper Swenson After him, he is the second hopeful to qualify for the 2025 PGA Tour, finishing third in the Race to Dubai. The Swede won the Singapore Classic and finished second in three other events.
Recent British Masters Champions Niklas Norgaard His ranking in the Dubai Race has risen rapidly after his successful debut, and he currently leads by a narrow margin. Sebastian Soderbergh Soderberg had five top-five finishes but failed to win — in special circumstances, LPGA Tour pro Lynn Grant overcame an eight-shot deficit to beat him at the Scandinavian Mix.
The remaining six players currently expected to earn PGA Tour cards have all finished between 9th and 15th in tournaments this season, with only Tommy Fleetwood already exempt.
Japanese Hoshino Rikuya After his success at the Qatar Masters in February, he finished ninth in the Race to Dubai, followed by Roman Langaske Ranked 11th. The French player has been runner-up twice in 2024 and also has a third place on his resume.
Rasmus Hoggard He missed out on the Ryder Cup by one place last year while his brother Nicola travelled to the United States to compete, but he could be looking to get revenge in 2024.
at the same time, Matteo ManasseroIf he can keep his form going until the end of November, it will be the latest positive chapter in his eventful career. Last season, the Italian played on the Challenge Tour. This year, he won the Jonsson Workwear Open. Next season, he could be playing alongside the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele.
Frederic Lacroix It was similar, graduating from the Challenge Tour last season and then winning the DP World Tour Denmark Golf Championship in 2024. The Frenchman currently holds the second-to-last PGA Tour card, behind only the former LIV golfer, Laurie Canter.
The Englishman was a reserve player during his time with the LIV but retired from the 54-hole league earlier this year to focus on his DP World Tour career. His first DP World Tour title came at the European Open in June and he is likely to receive his last PGA Tour card until 2025.
Kanter won't be able to play until mid-February, though, because his last LIV event was the Feb. 8-10 LIV Tournament in Las Vegas, and the PGA Tour has implemented a rule that prohibits LIV golfers from returning to the U.S. Tour for a year after their most recent appearance in a PIF-backed event.
The five qualifiers behind Kante include Guido Migliozzi, Tom McKibbin, Nacho Elvira, Ewen Ferguson and Jordan Smith. The Italian is about half a point behind Kante in the Race to Dubai standings.
