as British Bunker Network Viktor Hovland will reportedly have to sit out the remainder of the season due to injury and will not play in any games this year. The extent of his injuries has not been determined and no further details are available. Although he thus falls short of the minimum number required for four DP World Tour events, he may not have to worry about losing his Tour card due to the exemption.
Viktor Hovland 2024 mixed season
Hovland has already disqualified himself from the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in September. His last appearance was at the Tour Championship, the finals of the PGA Tour's FedExCup, where he finished tied for 12th. He crowned his successful 2023 season with victory in this tournament.
However, the Norwegian failed to extend his success in 2024: He failed to win a single game all year, missed the cut in three of the four majors and only made the cut in two, including the PGA Championship. Finished in the top ten in the competition.
The world number eight will no longer be able to compete in Dubai due to injury. He will miss the HSBC Championship in Abu Dhabi and the DP World Tour Championship in November.
A tragic end to Viktor Hovland's “tragic” year. You know, he missed the rest of the season due to injury.

Hovland's Ryder Cup status likely not affected
For European players, DP World Tour membership is a condition of participation in the 2025 Ryder Cup and can only be maintained by participating in at least four DP World Tour events. Although Hovland is now unable to compete in the required number of tournaments due to injury, this is unlikely to be his undoing: the DP World Tour announced that an exception can be made for medical reasons and Hovland will be exempted from the obligation to compete.
