Andrew Johnston has confirmed his 2023-2024 season is over prematurely after suffering another sore thumb.
Fan-favorite Johnston, known as “Beef”, has struggled with injuries over the past few years, which has limited him to starts on the DP World Tour.
His infectious personality became evident when he found contentment at the 2016 Royal Troon Open (which he won in Spain the same year).
His first year on the PGA Tour was derailed by a thumb injury, and when he returned, he also injured his back.
More surgeries mean significant disruption in 2022 and 2023.

But he returned to competition at the Investec SA Open Championship in November 2023, but failed to advance.
Since then, his grades have slowly improved. His best result was third place at the Omega European Masters.
Johnston also finished 40th at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth last month but has not competed since.
This will be his last event on the DP World Tour this year.
Johnston confirmed on Instagram that he will now hit the “reset button” in preparation for the 2024-2025 season.
“I haven't played the past few weeks and my thumb isn't 100 percent, so it looks like the season is over for me,” Johnston wrote.
