The PGA Tour has joined forces with the DP World Tour for this week's Genesis Scottish Open.
The event originated in 1972, was upgraded to a DP World Tour Rolex Series event in 2017, and has been jointly sanctioned since 2022. The event is traditionally held the week before the British Open as an introduction to the types of courses golfers will see in the subsequent major championships.
The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, designed by Tom Doak, has hosted the tournament since 2019. It also hosted the 2020 Scottish Women's Open.
The TRC course is 7,237 yards and has a par of 70. This course is not very long and can be played tight and fast, especially if conditions allow.
This week and next, creativity in hitting the ball is important. If the wind is strong (which it often is), it is important to keep the ball flight low and calculate where the ball will land.
Fescue greens tend to be slower. For PGA Tour players, this can be a bit of a shock to the body and not necessarily make putting easier.
This week's field is 156, made up of members of the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.
The weather is looking pretty bad this week. Rain is expected to hit nearly every day during practice and tournament time. Temperatures are expected to stay in the 50s. That's links golf, baby!
