Billy Horschel said TGL will provide new and existing fans an unprecedented perspective on the game of golf.
TGL starts on January 8, 2025 – Exclusive live broadcast on Sky Sports – Custom-built SoFi Center from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, blending golf technology and innovation on an unprecedented scale.
Horschel, who is part of a 24-player roster, praised TMRW Sports, the creators of TGL, for the innovation he believes will cater to loyal golf fans as well as first-time players.
“For die-hard golf fans, they're going to enjoy all the numbers and data,” he told us Sky Sports. “The launch conditions, how much spin the ball spins, how far it travels — they’re going to have fun with it.
“To me, if I hit the ball, it should be apexing around 112 feet, but it only goes to 100 feet, and it's still five yards away, and I know it only went 100 feet in the air, and the spin rate Too high, that's why but it doesn't work well.
“It’s going to be really cool when we throw numbers like that out and talk about them with our teammates.
“It works for everyone. Non-golf fans are going to see something different, and hardcore fans are going to get all the data and see the players from a different perspective.
“It's a great thing and it's great that Sky Sports can broadcast it in the UK, which has some of the most knowledgeable golf fans in the world. They are the most knowledgeable, stubborn, tenacious and passionate about golf. Sports people.
“I've been lucky enough to be able to experience it over the last seven years and I hope they have as much fun with TGL as I did getting to race and be a part of it.”
Featuring six teams of golf's biggest stars, the season-long competition, which ends on March 25, will feature teams competing for two hours on 15 custom-designed holes, combining virtual and real-life events for Fans are provided with the opportunity to watch the best players in the world in a new and engaging way.
For Horschel, this cutting-edge platform provides the foundation for players to go out and entertain golf fans, and in the process expand the reach of the game he loves.
“Everyone at TGL creates incredible products,” he added. “They gave everything they had to be successful and now it’s on us as players to be the entertainers.
“We're still going to be competitive; we still want to win and get bragging rights, but we need to be entertainers and different than what people see on the PGA Tour 47 weeks out of the year.
“We can show people a side of us that people don’t see on the golf course and show them more of who we are behind the scenes.
“It’s the little things like these that go a long way in connecting golf fans and non-golf fans alike with TGL and making us successful.”
He continued: “I’ve been excited about it since they came to me about it at the beginning of 2022. After a very brief chat, I said yes straight away without having to think twice.
“When I watch golf, I love the game. I think it's the greatest game in the world and it can do so many things for people, it can open doors, build relationships and allow you to travel the world.

“Going to the golf course and trying to learn how to play the game can be scary for beginners, so trying to put two scary things together doesn't always match up and it can deter people from wanting to take it up.
“I’m excited because this could open up another avenue to get more people involved in the game of golf.”
