Cormac Scharven shot a second straight round of 67 at the Millennium Golf Club in Belgium to earn himself a place in the second stage of DP World Tour qualifying.
The Ardglass native, the only Irishman in the field, had just one bogey in 36 holes, which came on Day 1. He kept his clean sheet with four birdies on Day 2, taking his total to eight under, tied for 24th at the halfway stage.
He is currently just one stroke away from qualifying, but the level of competition is so strong that he will most likely need to produce similar scores on days three and four if he wants to earn one of the 20 tickets to advance to the next stage.
German amateur Cedric Otten continued to carve his way through the field, opening with a 10-under 61 and then an 8-under 63 the next day to take a four-shot lead at the halfway point.
The top seven of the multinational ranking include a German, a British, two Dutch, a Hong Konger, a Colombian and an American.
