- Edoardo Molinari finishes T54 at Genesis Championship
- The result was not enough for the Italian golfer to secure a tour card for next year
- Molinari named Europe's first Ryder Cup vice-captain
Edoardo Molinari fought back tears after an emotional 54th place finish at the Genesis Championship meant he lost his 2025 DP World Tour card.
The 43-year-old, who has made five consecutive promotions heading into the final game of the regular season, will need to perform well in the Korean tournament to secure his spot for next season.
Molinari made progress this time around, but it was still not enough for the Italian veteran, who first turned professional in 2006.
“It was a little difficult, I didn't play very well, but I tried my best as usual,” he said after the painful game.
“It's not enough, but that's golf. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. There's obviously a couple of guys in the bubble who were very close [to losing their card]. I'm a little behind so I'm not too stressed [at the Genesis Championship] to be honest. It would take half a miracle for me to keep my card.

The Italian veteran golfer finished tied for 54th, but it wasn't enough to qualify for next year
“I think we're still very privileged and lucky to do what we do. Playing on the best courses in the world, in the best conditions in the world, so I don't think you can complain too much if you lose your Card, keep your card. I think the job is more stressful than us.”
In January, Molinari was named first vice-captain of the defense for the 2025 European Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
Last year, the Italian's statistical analysis played a key role in Europe regaining the trophy with a five-point victory over the United States at Rome's Marco Simeone Golf and Country Club.

“My next goal is Q-school in a few weeks,” he added.
