A golfer rarely sees a feat on Friday.
Dale Whitnell, a 36-year-old British man, scored two holes in the same round at the South Afrivan Open. The DP World Tour event will be held this week at Durban Country Club.
Whitnell needed a hole in the hole to cut in, the title of the third and 12th shot, which was part of a 63 shot less than par, which also included a third eagle, seven birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey.
Whitnell has never been in a stumbling spot in the tournament before, and according to the Tour, he is just the second player in DP World Tour history to get multiple loopholes in the same round.
Andrew Dodt achieved his feat in 2013 at the Nordea Masters.
“It's a weird feeling, everything is set in stone. Obviously, you're excited, adrenaline is pumping, but at the same time, you have to focus on your work, but I managed to do it,” Whitnell said.
“I have everything today. One air shooting, two bogeys, one double bogey, three eagles, I came out at nine o'clock under par, so I can't complain.”
There are now seven holes during the 2025 DP World Tour.
These include MK Kim at the BMW Australian PGA Championship, Daniel Gavins and Adrien Saddier at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, Pablo Larrazábal and Eddie Pepperell at the Magical Kenya Open.
