Britain's Aaron Rai won his first PGA Tour title with a two-shot victory at the Wyndham Championship after Max Greyserman's late final-round collapse.
Rai finished with a six-under 64, having previously shot a two-under 68. Because Thursday's play was affected by bad weather, and there were delays on Friday and Saturday, everyone played at least 36 holes that day.
The 29-year-old finished the tournament at 18 under, finally winning on the North American Tour after a number of near misses, including a second-place finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in June.
Midway through the back nine, Gresserman holed out from 91 yards on the par-4 13th for eagle, leaving Rai four shots behind, but the American followed that up with four more bogeys after hitting his tee shot out of bounds on the next hole.
Gretherman then birdied the 15th, made double bogey on the 16th, four-putted on the par-3s, made pars on the 17th and 18th and finished straight for second place at 16 under after shooting a one-under 69.
Rai won four shots on the front nine and another on the 12th before birdieing the final hole. He is already a two-time champion on the DP World Tour, having won the Hong Kong Open in 2018 and the Scottish Open in 2020.
Rai: This is a dream come true
“It really is a dream come true. A lot of people have played a huge role in me achieving this,” the Wolverhampton-born player said after his win in North Carolina.
“I have a great team behind me and without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. I’m really happy and grateful to be here and surrounded by great people.

American JJ Spaun and Japan's Ryo Hisatsume tied for third at 15 under, three shots behind Rai, while halftime leader Matt Kuchar tied for 12th at 11 under after returning to the course to finish his final hole on Monday.
Kuchar will miss the FedEx Cup playoffs for the first time since the series began in 2007, and the 46-year-old needs to win the Wyndham Championship to extend his season.
The former world No. 4 is the only player to have made every FedEx Cup playoff event to date but finished outside the top 70 and will miss Thursday's FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis.
Kuchar was the only player to return to Sedgefield Country Club on Monday, and he exercised his right not to complete the weather-affected 72nd hole on Sunday night and issued an apology after making par on the 18th hole.
After the game, Kuchar told a small group of reporters: “I'm sorry you guys had to come out this morning. I feel like I became that guy who didn't finish the game, and nobody wants to be that guy.”
“I know the consequences, I know it's terrible. I'm certainly sorry for forcing everybody to come here.”
