Local favorite Ockie Strydom is pleased with his game as he heads into the weekend's Nedbank Golf Challenge, but he knows he has to figure out which way the wind is blowing to succeed.
With play set to begin Friday at Gary Player Country Club, Strydom remained one shot behind the leader at the halfway mark despite adding a second-round 73 to Thursday's 67.
His round included three birdies and a double bogey and two bogeys as the back nine was extremely challenging.
While Strydom is pleased to be no longer in pain after his latest injury, he knows he's playing well, but he believes training in the wind on Saturday and Sunday will be key.
He said: “It's not easy out there, the wind is everywhere and you don't know where it's coming from. The wind on the back nine was probably about two and a half strokes, but in total it was a grind there today.
“I’m driving the ball well, I’m hitting my irons well, chipping and putting well, so I’m happy with how the tournament is going and I need to figure out which way the wind is going to be tomorrow and Sunday, so looking forward to that.
“I’m just going to stick to my game plan and whatever happens is going to happen.”
