Patrick McKinney has been appointed as the new Partner Sales Manager for the DP World Tour. He will be based full-time in Ireland with a primary focus on the Amgen Irish Open and the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor.
Patrick comes to the Tour with a wealth of golf and sporting experience having been involved in the 2011 Solheim Cup, the Irish Ladies Open and within the AIB sponsoring the award-winning AIB Gaelic Golf Association Club Championships ‘Toughest’ event.
His commercial sales experience also includes roles at Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways and most recently supporting the launch of food sustainability initiative Too Good To Go in the Irish market.
Max Hamilton, executive commercial director of the DP World Tour and former president of the Irish Football Association, said: “The creation of this new position is a strategic move by the DP World Tour to further strengthen our presence in the Irish market in support of the Amgen Irish Open and the 2027 Ryder Cup.
“These events continue to grow in stature and popularity, and Patrick has the experience and connections to further maximise their commercial potential.”
McKinney added: “I’m delighted to be joining the DP World Tour and there is a very exciting period ahead, including the centenary of the Amgen Irish Open and the 2027 Adare Manor Ryder Cup – golf’s greatest team competition.”
“These are iconic events and my goal is to further elevate their status by uncovering new and exciting opportunities for collaboration.”
Strategically positioned as a key event in the newly created ‘Back Nine’ section of the DP World Tour calendar, the Amgen Irish Open will be held at the iconic Royal County Down from September 12-15, 2024, and will feature a star-studded field including home favourite Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, recent Hall of Fame inductee Padraig Harrington and home favourite and rising star Tom McKibbin, who won his first DP World Tour title in 2023.
Business Sport will host its annual sponsorship showcase event in Dublin on the morning of Thursday 10 October. This is one of many events planned for the rest of 2024.
