Lee Min-woo rates his 2024 season as “around B,” and will then win the ISPS HANDA Australian Open in his hometown.
Lee has finished second twice in his first full season on the PGA Tour since winning the Australian PGA Championship on the DP World Tour late last year.
The Australian star, who remains in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking, has now arrived in Melbourne for his 27th and final appearance of the season after finishing tied for 15th at last week's BMW Australian PGA Championship Starter. The Australian Championship at the start of the 2025 DP World Tour season.
So while he clinched the DP World Tour title and qualified for the PGA Tour's FedExCup Playoffs, Lee admitted he was inevitably hungry for more.
“There were some good results, but it was a very consistent year, but I’m not known for it,” he said. “I’m trying to get to that stage.
“I feel like you kind of get a taste of consistency and you think, 'Oh, top 20, top 30 over and over again.' Usually I'd play really well in a tournament and then miss a few cuts. .
“So we're just waiting for a really top-heavy finish. But I think it's fine and I'm not going to be mad about it.
“Living there my first year on the PGA Tour, it's a different lifestyle, too. Next year I'll be living there with a house, so it's a big change.”
A win would be an ideal way to end his year, but in addition to facing tough opponents — including many of his fellow stars — Lee is also dealing with a knee injury he suffered while on “The Bed,” which impacted His challenge was in Brisbane last week.
Despite feeling pain at times while playing at the Royal Queensland Golf Club, the 26-year-old insists he has no excuses.
“Obviously it's a day-to-day thing, last week I didn't even bend, I couldn't bend and I didn't want to bend,” said the three-time DP World Tour champion.
“I think it's horrible. I haven't been through a lot of injuries, but for the people who are really injured, I mean I feel for them because I really didn't do anything too bad, but mentally Up there, you don't want to push it.
“It's a very minor injury compared to a major injury. So it's like I'm new and it's just one day, it's a long year, a long season, so I just want to make sure I'm in good shape For the competition.”
Lee will play alongside defending champion Joaquín Niemann of Chile and England's Jordan Smith in the first two rounds, starting at Kingston Heath Golf Club on Thursday before heading to Victoria Golf Club on Friday.
