Matt Wallace played 73 holes, ending a six-year winless streak.
The 34-year-old won his first PGA Tour title in 2023 but has struggled in the United States this year, finishing 112th in the FedEx Cup standings and missing the playoffs.
If his goal this offseason was to get the team on track, he's already made a great start.
Wallace broke a six-year winless streak on the DP World Tour by winning the 2024 Omega European Masters at the Kleins-sur-Schönle Golf Club in Switzerland on Sunday. Wallace had been in the lead all week but had to play a playoff with Alfredo Garcia-Heredia to get his fifth victory on the DP World Tour.
“Exhausted, it was a tough day,” Wallace said. “It wasn’t easy, but I felt like I scored and didn’t do anything.”
Wallace played at even par on Sunday, but Garcia-Heredia made birdies in the final round to tie with Wallace at 11 under and force a playoff. Both players hit their tee shots in the fairway, but Wallace didn't hit his approach well and holed his birdie putt.
Andrew Johnston, better known as “Beef”, achieved his best result in four years, finishing third.
