Don’t blink at this year’s Masters. You may miss the Højgaard brothers.
Augusta National Golf Club announced on Wednesday that it has invited Danish player Nicolai Højgaard to join his brother Rasmus at Augusta National Golf Club from April 10-13. The twin brothers will play the tournament club for the first time in the first major of the season at Towers National Golf Club.
While the Masters has a set of requirements for invitations, it also reserves the right to invite unqualified players. In addition to Nicola Højgaard, the club also invited Chilean Joaquin Niemann, a member of the LIV Golf League.

The arrival of April.”
Nikolay Hoygaard will play in his second Masters. Last year he was in contention for much of the week, briefly holding the lead on Saturday before finishing tied for 16th.
He is ranked No. 60 in the current World Golf Rankings and ends the 2024 DP World Tour season with five consecutive top-25 finishes in five countries. Nicolai Højgaard is a three-time DP World Tour winner.

Rasmus Højgaard will make his Masters debut. He reached the top 50 in the World Golf Ranking at the end of 2024, qualified, and won five times on the DP World Tour. He won the 2019 Mauritius Open and became the first player born after 2000 to win a DP event.
Niemann will be playing in his sixth Masters and has made the cut four times. He is ranked 71st in the world golf rankings. Niemann won two championships on the PGA Tour before moving to LIV Golf, where he won two championships.
Does anyone else still qualify for the 2025 Masters?
There are currently 87 players in the Masters. Players can qualify for this year's tournament in three ways:
- Win the 2025 Latin American Amateur Championship from January 16-19.
- Win a PGA Tour event with full FedExCup points the week before the Masters.
- Ranked in the top 50 in the world the week before the competition.
