Cleeks GC Captain Martin Kaymer and 4Aces GC’s Patrick Reed have confirmed their participation in this year’s LINK Hong Kong Open, taking place at The Hong Kong Golf Club from November 21-24.
The two major champions and LIV Golf stars will headline the US$2 million event, part of The International Series on the Asian Tour. Other notable players in the field include Justin Rose and Tom Kim, ensuring a highly competitive lineup for the tournament’s 63rd edition.
Kaymer and Reed are no strangers to the Hong Kong golf scene, having previously competed at LIV Golf Hong Kong in March.
Kaymer Reflects on Hong Kong’s Unique Appeal
“Every time we come to Hong Kong, it’s not only the golf course that stands out, but also the people. They’re incredibly friendly and supportive,” said Kaymer, who boasts two major titles, including the 2010 PGA Championship and the 2014 U.S. Open.
Kaymer holds a special connection to the Hong Kong Open, as it marked his debut event as an international touring professional in 2006. “I remember standing on the putting green next to Miguel Angel Jiménez and Ian Poulter. It was intimidating because just months earlier, I was competing on the German professional tour. Suddenly, I was sharing practice space with Ryder Cup players. It was an entirely new experience,” he recalled.
Reed’s Strong Ties to Hong Kong
Patrick Reed, the 2018 Masters champion, has been a regular visitor to Hong Kong over the past decade. His best finish at the Hong Kong Open came in 2015, where he tied for third. Reed enters the tournament after securing four top-10 finishes in the 2024 LIV Golf League.
“Hong Kong always provides a fantastic atmosphere,” said Reed. “The fans, the course, and the city itself make it a special place to compete.”
LINK Hong Kong Open: “Asia’s Major”
Legendary golfer and tournament ambassador Gary Player has dubbed the LINK Hong Kong Open “Asia’s Major,” highlighting its significance in the region’s golf calendar.
