Many X golf fans seemed angry about an offhand comment made by LIV golf pro Joaquin Niemann after he fought hard to make the cut Open.
Niemann, who solidified his place at the Royal Troon Championship by winning the DP World Tour earlier this year, had been playing solid links golf before his loss at the Stamps on Friday.
Niemann had a nightmare on the infamous par 3, navigating three of the five bunkers surrounding the hole en route to a snowman eight.

After a devastating quintuple bogey, Niemann showed his true strength, finishing at 4 under on the back nine.
He was one of 11 players to make it past the halfway stage, with other big names being sent home.
As Niemann reflected on his spectacular back-nine performance with golf reporter Cara Banks, he said he was “really sad” that he almost didn't make it.
Niemann was one of the first players to join the breakaway tour in 2022 and saw his world ranking drop significantly.
When he won the opening LIV event in Mexico in February, the Chilean complained about the difficulty of getting into the top four events.
Most people were less sympathetic to this comment.
Niemann's victory at the ISPS Handa Australian Open ensured his spot in this week's tournament.
He was invited to the PGA Championship and received a special exemption to play in the Masters.
Officials at Augusta National Golf Club also praised the fact that he was a former Latin American Amateur champion.
His latest comments appear to have caused waves on the social media platform.
One user said: “I really want to like him but he makes it hard for me to like him sometimes.”
Another added: “That’s what the money is for.”
The golf fan wrote: “He signed a $100 million contract and received a special invitation to this year's Masters. Stop being sad!”
Niemann's third round tee-off is at 2:55 p.m., against England's Matthew Jordan.
Both players shot par and finished seven shots behind 36-hole leader Shane Lowry.
