Not a single Irish player shot par on day two of the first stage of DP World Tour qualifying.
Whitehead's John Ross Galbraith was the best of the bunch, tied for 21st at the halfway point at Bristol Players Club with a one-over 71, seven shots behind leaders Aman Gupta of the United States and Jimmy Cheng of New Zealand.
Danny Brennan and Rowan Lester shot 72, amateur Hugh Foley shot 73 to tie for 29th at three over, and K Club’s Liam Grehan shot 71 to tie for 44th at six over.
In the weather-delayed qualifying round at the National Golf Links near Rome, Daniel Mulligan and Michael Young both shot three-over 75s to tie for 67th at four over, and Brandon St. John also shot 75 to finish 78th at nine over.
American Scott Stevens shot 67, 11 under, to maintain the club lead.
Seven more first-stage qualifiers will be held over the next four weeks.
The leading 17 teams and the tied team in Bristol will qualify for the second stage in October.
A similar number of matches will be played in Italy, where the second round was suspended due to darkness.
