The 26-year-old Englishman finished with a three-under 69 to join Americans Matt NeSmith, Pierceson Coody, Zac Blair and Rico Hoey in the play-offs, who finished at 22-under 266 on the Keene Terrace Championship Course in the DP World Tour co-sanctioned event.
Hall fought hard for par on the par-4 18th, the first playoff hole, when his tee shot went left, crashed into the rough, hit a greenside bunker and slammed it out of bounds, a foot from the fairway. He survived when Nesmith's eight-foot birdie attempt slid to the right.
Over the next 18 holes of playoff play, Hall, Nesmith and Coody all missed birdie putts, with Nesmith's closest being 12 feet.
Hall ended his round at the 209-yard, par-3 ninth hole. After all three were in the rough, the 6-foot-4 former University of Nevada, Las Vegas player hit his tee shot first and slammed it down the right side before Nesmith and Coody tried and failed from behind the hole.
“It's amazing,” Hall, who is about to become a father, said. Golf Channel broadcast.
“The baby is due next week so I can probably take a week off now.
“I feel like that's a little bit of a danger there, because of where I am in the FedEx Cup, I probably have to play every week. So I'm happy that I probably don't have to play now. Yeah, very happy.”
Nesmith and Blair each shot 64, playing in consecutive groups about two hours before the final pair.
Coody led the first three rounds and finished with a 70. He made a 12-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to advance to the playoffs.
Hoy (69) led by one stroke going into the final hole, but his wedge went off the green and into rocks on the bank of the pond, resulting in bogey.
