Great Britain and Ireland came close to victory after dominating against a continental team in the DP World Tour Team Cup in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
Justin Rose's Great Britain and Ireland are just two points away from regaining the trophy later this year in the race for captain Luke Donald's Ryder Cup side.
French pair Mathieu Pavin and Romain Langescque once again provided the continent with two foursomes wins, but their other partners failed to register victory as Great Britain and Ireland clashed on Sunday. Leading 11-4 in singles play.
LIV player Tyrrell Hatton is hoping to secure a fourth consecutive selection for September's Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black with a victory this week and a tie with fellow Briton Matt Matt Wallace's way to tie the game increased his personal score to 2.5 points.
“We played well this morning and it's always difficult to keep that momentum going,” Hatton said. “It was a bit scrappy at times today but the turn was huge for us and ultimately happy to have won the points this afternoon.”
Tommy Fleetwood scored the winner against the United States at the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, taking his tally to three.
Northern Ireland youngster Tom McKibbin, who has been heavily linked with a move to the breakthrough LIV circuit, also maintained his 100% record this week.
Fleetwood and Hatton will play their first two singles matches on Sunday against Pavon and Thorbjorn Olsen respectively in the hope of securing the title as soon as possible.
