Get ready for more golf tournaments happening around the world this week.
With Black Desert Resort Golf Course taking center stage, the PGA Tour returns to Utah for the first time since the 1960s. The course, which winds through black lava and desert cliffs, was designed by the late great Tom Weiskopf, who won the Open Championship at Royal Troon in 1973. This was also Weiskopf's last design before his death in August 2022.
Jay Don Blake, 65, will start his 500th career game at the inaugural Black Forest Championship in Utah. Other big names in the field this week include Keith Mitchell, Beau Hossler, Nick Taylor and recent PGA Tour University graduate Michael Sobey Michael Thorbjornsen. After this week, there are five events remaining on the PGA Tour's fall schedule.
Meanwhile, the LPGA kicks off its Asian Tour in Shanghai. Competitors in the no-elimination tournament include defending champion Angel Yin, young talent Rose Chang and Australia's Hannah Green, who is having a fantastic season in her own right.
In Europe, the DP World Tour returns to the continent, with the National Golf Club hosting the French FedEx Open this week. Rain and damp conditions dampened the impact of the famous French layout, which hosted the 2018 Ryder Cup and hosted Olympic golf last summer. Billy Horschel, Justin Rose, Matthieu Pavon and Højgaard twins Rasmus and Nikola Nicolai) are all set to compete in France this week.
The PGA Tour Championship will then conclude the regular season at the SAS Championship in Cary, North Carolina. After this event, the top 72 players will advance to the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs. Bernhard Lange, Ernie Els and Padraig Harrington were the headliners.
