The PGA Tour's fall FedEx Cup continues in Las Vegas as Tom Kim returns to defend his back-to-back titles at the Shriners Children's Open. If the 22-year-old South Korean wins again this week, he will become the first player since Steve Stricker in 2011 to win the same event three years in a row. Stricker accomplished this feat at the John Deere Classic and won the TPC Deere Run from 2009 to 2011.
Other celebrities taking part in TPC Summerlin this week include Rickie Fowler, Nick Taylor, Cameron Davis, Tom Hoge, Harry Hall, and recent PGA Tour winner Matt McCarty, who won the Black Desert Championship in Utah last week. After this week, there are only four games left in the fall FedEx Cup as players continue to compete for a spot in the 2025 season. Players ranked 51st to 60th after the RSM Classic in mid-November are eligible to play in the first two signature events of 2025. The top 125 players will maintain their PGA Tour status next year.
Meanwhile, across the Pacific, the LPGA continues its Asian Tour in South Korea. Although world number one Nellie Korda will not compete. Korda withdrew from this week's BMW Championship due to a neck injury suffered in practice. However, the field for this no-elimination tournament is impressive, including Lydia Ko, Rose Chang, Lilia Vu, Minjee Lee and reigning U.S. Women's Open champion Yuka Saso.
Then, in southern Spain, Jon Rahm will dominate the Andalucía Masters, which will be played at the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande ) held. Twin brothers Nicolai and Rasmus Højgaard, Matt Wallace, Victor Perez and Rahm's compatriot Angel Hidalgo will all compete this week. The Andalusia Masters is the final DP World Tour event on the European continent this season. This is also the penultimate game of the regular season. The DP World Tour playoffs will kick off on November 7 in the Middle East.
Finally, the PGA Tour Champions Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs kick off this week at Richmond Country Club in Virginia. The top 72 players on the regular season money list qualify for this week's Dominion Energy Charity Classic, the first game of the playoffs. The top 54 players will compete in next week's TimberTech Championship in Little Rock, Arkansas. Then, on Nov. 7, the top 36 players will compete in the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship at Phoenix Country Club. Ernie Els, Steven Alker, Stephen Ames, Richard Green and Stricker currently round out the top five. Padraig Harrington finished 10th.
