Great Britain and Ireland doubled their advantage in the 2025 Teams Cup, leading 7-3 in Saturday morning's foursomes.
Justin Rose's side are 3.5-1.5 ahead in Friday's four-goal tie and are targeting a 13-point win over the trophy at the weekend, which they repeated in the first of two four-goal matches on the intermediate day. A winning advantage.
Tyrrell Hatton did well to save half-time in the opener before Aaron Rai and Tom McKibbin and Paul Waring ) and Matthew Jordan had a dominant win.
Rose and Tommy Fleetwood won the match on the final hole, before Mathieu Pavin and Roman Langeske gave the Continental a much-needed point.
As on Friday, the Continentals took first place in the early going, with Thorbjorn Olsen and Niklas Norgaard coming up against Hatton and Matt Wallace. The first birdie of the match was followed by captain Francesco Molinari and Julian Guerrier's second and third birdies against Ross and Fleetwood.
But Rye and McKibbin performed well in the third match, overcoming Rasmus Hojgaard and Rasmus Nergaard-Petersen on the first three holes to secure a promising A competitive start.
Hatton and Wallace fought back, but Olson and Norgaard birdied the sixth, seventh and 10th holes to take a two-stroke lead. England reduced the deficit to one goal in the next game.
GB&I led the other three games at the time, although Rose and Fleetwood's lead only lasted until the ninth and 10th holes, when they fell behind again after the 13th hole.
Waring and Jordan beat Olson and Norgaard on Friday, who halved the first six holes against Matteo Manassero and Antoine Rozner, but lost the next four holes. Won three holes to join Rye and McKibbin, who had a four-hole lead going into the 11th, in dominance.
The main event is going continental style, with Pavin and Langeske looking to pick up a second win in as many games.
The French pair outlasted Jordan Smith and Lauri Kanter on the first and fourth holes, restoring a two-hole lead on the 11th after being tied before the turn.th.
After Wallace found the 18th, Hatton converted a 60-foot putt for eagle to take the half-time title in spectacular styleth green. In a quality match, GB&I shot a 7-under 65, while the Danish pair shot an 8-under 64.
“I thought all in all the outcome today was pretty fair,” Olson said. “They played some great golf and we made some good putts on the front nine to keep us in the lead.”
Wallace responded: “We wanted more (but) the lads played well and I felt that was a fair reflection of today’s game.
“Terrell and I are hitting the ball well, I haven't put my shoes on yet, but it's something I'm working on.”
Højgaard's long putt on No. 15 gave Rai and McKibbin a 4&3 victoryth Then I came to the cave to rest. The rookie pair improved to 2-0 each after scoring four goals each on Friday.
The next match ended quickly on the same hole, with Waring and Jordan reaching that point with a multi-four-stroke lead and winning the hole, producing an even more impressive 5&3 advantage.
Fleetwood's birdie putt left him and Rose within half a point of the final match, and they eventually won the hole to take a two-point lead.
Pavin almost immediately made a beautiful birdie putt on No. 16th He and Langasque won for the second time in a row, defeating Smith and Canter 3&2.
