Frederic Lacroix overcame a four-stroke deficit in the final round to win his first DP World Tour title at the Denmark Golf Championship.
The 29-year-old carded a bogey-free, six-under-par 65 to win by four shots at the Lübck Golf Resort, making it two consecutive seasons for France to win on the DP World Tour after Antoine Rozner and Victor Perez in 2023, while David Ravetto won the D+D REAL Czech Masters last week.
He started the day four shots behind 54-hole leader Lucas Bjerregaard, but quickly took the lead with a birdie on the first hole and was tied for the lead at 11 under after birdies on the fifth and seventh holes.
Soon after the turn, Lacroix was three shots ahead of his pursuers and further ahead at the 10th and 12th holes. He made his sixth birdie of the day on the par-3 15th to lead by four with three shots to play, ending the round with consecutive pars, his first DP World Tour title in his 57th appearance.
Fellow countryman Roman Langaske and home favourite Bjerregaard failed to mount a late charge and ended up tied for second at 10 under. Langaske closed with an even-par 71, while Bjerregaard finished the day at 2 over.
Lavitto followed up last week’s win with a four-under final round to finish fourth at nine under, with five golfers tied for fifth, one shot behind, including amateur champion Jacob Skov Olesen, who makes his DP World Tour debut this week.
“It’s still very difficult to achieve now and it will take some time,” Lacroix said.
“I’m really happy to have finished the round. I played really well today and didn’t make any bogeys. So I’m really happy with how I played today.
“I’ve been close a few times, especially this year. I’ve been improving over the last few years, slowly but steadily. I’ve just been doing what I’m supposed to do and I’m happy to see the win today.
“What was even more important was seeing my friend David (Lavitto) win last week. It showed that it's possible and totally doable. I'm just speechless right now.”
