Thomas Pieters returns to the DP World Tour, just weeks removed from signing with Dustin Johnson's 4Aces team.
The Belgian golfer is a familiar face on the DP World Tour, having joined the LIV Golf Series two years ago where he partners with two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson for RangeGoats. In 2025, he changed teams within LIV and will play for 4Aces.
He will make his debut for the 2022 team champions at the LIV season opener in Riyadh next month. But first, Peters will compete in the DP World Tour’s upcoming Dubai Desert Classic.
He won't be the only LIV player; his 4Aces colleague Patrick Reed will also be competing at Emirates Golf Club, as well as Legion XIII's Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, Cleeks' Adrian Meronk and Dean Burmester from Stinger GC.
Although he juggled two tours in 2024 and competed in the Soudal Open and the BMW International Open, where he finished second and tied for ninth, respectively, Peters believes LIV has a higher standard of golf.
“Since joining the DP World Tour, the level of golf is ten times higher than what I was used to playing,” he told Gulf News.
“You can't hide here. As you can see from my results, I didn't have the best year – if you have an average performance or a bad week, you're going to be last or in the bottom five. It sucks, but that's how LIV becomes very powerful.”
Peters' comments caused a stir at the time, but the 32-year-old reiterated his position in September. “Certainly, the level of play was higher at LIV, but I didn’t play as well,” he told Golf Today. “Just look at the quality of the field, look at the numbers.
“If you don't show up every round, every week, you're going to be in the last 10. I played two events on the European Tour this season – I love the European Tour – and my game wasn't Gone.” Big jump, I finished (tied) for second and ninth, which I think shows the depth of the field. “
