DP World Tour member Marco Penge has been suspended for two months after the tour discovered he had placed bets on multiple events.
The PGA Tour disciplinary panel found that the 26-year-old Briton did not place bets on himself or on any match day during the tournament and determined that “the integrity of such events was not compromised”.
However, Penger still violated the Tour's integrity program and was suspended until mid-February. He was also fined approximately $2,500. The PGA Tour said his penalty was reduced due to his cooperation and immediate admission of the violation. The ban takes effect on December 13.
Penge, who most recently competed in the Australian Open in late November, ranked 414th in the world, has missed 19 of 28 matches this year. He recently gained attention on the DP World Tour's social channels for sinking a 5-foot par putt on the final hole to advance at the Genesis Championship and give himself a chance to earn tournament privileges in 2025. He called the putt the most nervous of his career — “To be fair, I was laughing at myself,” he said.
Penger finally finished 110thth Just enough to keep his card on the table for the entire season in Dubai.
Penge has yet to comment publicly on the suspension.
