The BMW Australian PGA Championship has been reduced to 54 holes after heavy rain prevented play at the Royal Queensland Course on Friday.
The second round of the 2025 DP World Tour season-opening event has been canceled ahead of kick-off at 11.30am local time (1.30am GMT) due to close to 250mm of rain falling in the Brisbane area over the past seven days.
As next week's ISPS HANDA Australian Open will be played on two courses in Kingston Heath and Victoria, organizers have decided to play the second round on Saturday with the same tee time.
The third and final round will be played on Sunday to complete the 54-hole event, which will not feature four rounds for the first time in the tournament's 95-year history.
BMW Australian PGA Championship DP World Tour tournament director Jose Maria Zamora said in a statement: “Continuing heavy downpours throughout the morning resulted in saturation of many fairways at Royal Queensland Golf Club, which is considered today The match cannot be played.
“We plan to start the second round of the BMW Australian PGA Championship at 6am on Saturday morning, with the third and final round on Sunday.
“We want to ensure we can finish this incredible tournament as planned on Sunday, taking into account the logistics of the ISPS HANDA Australian Open taking place on both courses next week.”
