The DP World Tour’s 2025 season “opening tournament” has been announced, with some changes compared to the 2024 season.
Five southern hemisphere events at the end of 2024 will mark the start of the 2025 season, with Australia hosting several consecutive events to kick off the season, starting with the Australian PGA Championship at the Royal Queensland Golf Club in Brisbane from November 21 to 24, followed a week later by the ISPS HANDA Australian Open at Kingston Heath Golf Club and Victoria Golf Club in Melbourne.
Both events are jointly sanctioned with the Australian Challenger Golf Tour before the tour moves west to South Africa for the Nedbank Golf Challenge South Africa at Gary Player Country Club in Sun City from December 5-8 and the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek the following week.
Both events are sanctioned in association with the Sunshine Tour, as is the finale of the “opening season”, the Afro-Asia Bank Mauritius Open, held at Mont Choisy Golf Club in the Indian Ocean island nation in the week before Christmas.
The good news for fans is that the conflicting Australian and South African events will no longer exist in the 2024 season, with the Joburg Open and Investec South African Open, which will be held at the same time as the Australian PGA and Australian Open, being held at a later date to be determined on the DP World Tour schedule.
