Bjerregaard thrives on a grand day
Bjeregaard got off to an early start on Saturday morning and returned to the course to complete the final 10 holes of his second round. But he showed no signs of fatigue as he made five birdies on the back nine to hold a two-shot lead at the halfway stage. The local favorite made another birdie on the back nine in the third round and was at 12 under, two shots ahead going into the final round.
McKibbin starts hot
Tom McKibbin got his third round off to a perfect start Saturday from the 10th tee, opening with a 23-foot eagle and then birdying holes 11, 12 and 14 to get into contention. He finished with his second straight five-under 67.
Amazing amateur performance
Amateur champion Jacob Skov-Olsen played well in his DP World Tour debut on home soil. He made a big improvement in the third round, shooting his second straight bogey-free 66 to move to nine under and within striking distance of the lead. He said: “I'm very happy. I thought I played really well. I'm happy that I was able to keep the ball in front of me, stay patient and take advantage of the opportunities when they presented themselves.”
