Rasmus Højgaard was at the top of the leaderboard along with four others before high winds halted play on the second day of the 2024 Denmark Golf Championship.
Here's everything you need to know about your second weather-affected day in Denmark.
Hold on to your hats…
The next day, the players encountered wet and windy weather, with gusts so strong at times that some people's hats were blown off. The weather also had a big impact on the score, with heavy rain and strong winds on the court. The game was finally suspended at 16:57 local time.
Great Dane
The Danish flag flew high at the Lübke Golf Resort on the second day, when the whistle blew, Rasmus Nergaard-Petersen and first-round leader Hoegaard were tied for the lead with five players. Like Nergaard-Petersen, Norwegian player Christopher Reitan and French player Adrien Sadier made it safely to the clubhouse at five under par, while Hoegaard and French player Frederic Lacroix had to return on Saturday morning to complete their rounds. Defending champion Hoegaard had a mixed afternoon, with consecutive birdies early on, but he lost his commanding lead after three bogeys in four holes. He also had to try to avoid another bogey on the 12th hole after the resumption of play when he left the course.
Nergaard Peterson's great season continues
Niergaard Petersen has had a great season on the European Challenge Tour, sitting at the top of the standings after two wins this year, and he continued his good form on his home course on Friday with a 5-under 66. He said: “It was a lot of fun. Even though the weather wasn't great, there were a lot of crowds – typical Danish summer. But it was great. Played some solid golf. I thought I started to hit some putts today and I was able to make more birdies and have a good round.”
