Everything you need to know about Denmark's opening round match.
Rasmus Højgaard started his title defence in impressive fashion by topping the leaderboard on day one of the 2024 Denmark Golf Championship.
Here's everything you need to know about Denmark's opening round match.
The defending champions continue to move forward
Last season, Hoegaard won a six-hole playoff with Nacho Elvira to become the event's first home champion. Despite being on a different course, the Dane began his title defence in fine fashion, firing a 65 on Thursday morning to take a two-shot lead after 18 holes. Starting from the 10th tee, Hoegaard made three birdies on the front nine before returning to the turn with a superb eagle, two birdies and a bogey. “I'm very happy with it,” he said. “It wasn't easy at the beginning but I managed to keep the ball in play most of the time and hit some good putts.”
A familiar warrior
Julien Guerrier is narrowly ahead of many of his rivals this week, having previously competed at the host course, Lübker Golf Resort. The Frenchman tied for ninth at the 2011 ECCO Tour Championship presented by Thomas Björn and Mercedes Benz on the European Challenge Tour, and 13 years later he got off to a good start at the same venue, opening with a 69, two under par.
Sharma's hot start
Shubankar Sharma got off to a good start on Thursday afternoon, making four consecutive birdies this week to move to the top of the leaderboard. The Indian player then made pars on the next four holes before a birdie on the ninth hole took him to the 31st hole. He was unable to keep his clean sheet on the back nine but ended the week with a two-under 69.
Warren's surprising trump card
Scotsman Mark Warren had a hole-in-one on the par-3 seventh hole, using a 50° wedge from 140 yards. Well done, Mark.
Dean's Roller Coaster
Even though Joe Dean's tee shot went deep into the woods, he still miraculously made par…
