The final event of the DP World Tour’s five-event “Global Swing” series takes place in Denmark this week as the Lubbock Golf Resort hosts the Danish Championship.
The tournament, known as “Made in Denmark” from 2014 to 2020 and “Made in Himmerland” from 2021 to 2023, has changed its name again this year, with a prominent figure in Danish golf ushering in a new era for the tournament.
In fact, back in January, Thomas Bjorn was announced as the event’s chairman, with the hope being that his experience would take the event to new heights.
“I am honored to be named chairman of this year’s Danish Golf Championships,” said the 15-time DPWT champion.
“As a country, Denmark has done an outstanding job in golf over the years and I look forward to serving as an ambassador for this great game which continues to grow in size and stature.”
Despite Bjorn's great success in his career, the Danish Championships were not held until 2014. This year will be the tenth edition of the competition, with last year's champions being Thomas Pieters, Bernd Wiesberger and the Dane's Rasmus Hojgaard, among others.
The Dane became the tournament's first home champion, defeating Spaniard Nacho Elvira in a thrilling six-hole play-off at the Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort.
Will there be another Danish champion this week?
Where is the Denmark Golf Championship held?
The tournament has been hosted eight times by HimmerLand Golf & Spa Resort since 2014, and in 2018 it was hosted by Silkeborg Ry Golfklub.
A new era means a new venue, as Luebke Golf Resort will host the tournament in 2024. While the course may not have hosted a major DPWT event, it has hosted Challenge Tour events, ECCO Tour events, and DPWT Qualifying School.
Defending champion Hojgaard spoke highly of the stadium, saying: “I think Lubke is an excellent choice. I believe that both Danish and international players will like this stadium and venue.”
The course only opened in 2008, but was voted the “Best Golf Course in Denmark 2022”, highlighting its credentials as the perfect host for the tournament.
The par-71, 7,026-yard course was designed by Robert Trent Jones II, son of renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, which means Lubbock Golf Resort will offer players plenty of challenges.
What is the format of the Denmark Golf Championship?
The format of the Denmark Golf Championship is a standard stroke play tournament with 72 holes, with elimination after 36 holes (two rounds). The player with the lowest score in four rounds will win the tournament.

His brother Nicolai will be looking to defeat Rasmus and claim his first DPWT title since winning the DP World Tour Championship in November 2023.
In addition to the twins, there are a number of Danes competing, including Bjorn, Thorbjorn Olesen and Niklas Norgaard.
Last year's runner-up Elvira will be aiming for his second DPWT win of the season after winning the Sodeo Open in May.

Ross has a keen interest in golf and plays it as often as he can, but the fact that he has two daughters under the age of six means his dream of breaking 80 will have to wait a little longer.
Although he picked up a club at age 11, he had few highlights on the golf course.
An eagle shot on the par-4 16th at Kinghorn stands out (although it's only 290 yards, so it doesn't matter).
