The 2024 Betfred British Masters, the first event in the 2025 Ryder Cup Qualifying Tournament, will be held at the Belfry and offer 1,500 points.
European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald will make his first British Masters appearance in six years and will be keeping a close eye on potential prospects at Bethpage Black next year as the newly revamped qualification window opens.
Sir Nick Faldo will once again host the tournament, continuing in the role from 2023. The six-time Grand Slam champion was announced as the long-term host of the tournament early last year, with Belfry set to host the event until at least 2026.

This suggests that the future is bright for the event, which was absent from 2009 to 2014 due to a lack of a title sponsor. In 2015, the event returned to the tour on the condition that a top British golfer was chosen to host the event, and the venue was also selected. Since then, stars such as Ian Poulter, Donald, Lee Westwood and now Faldo have hosted the British Masters at various courses.
The 2023 edition saw Daniel Hillier win his first event on the DP World Tour, beating Oliver Wilson and Gunner Wiebe by two shots at the Belfry. The British Masters is often a close finish, with only two editions since 2015 having been won by three shots or more.
Where is the British Masters held?
One of the best courses in the UK and Ireland, the Belfry has only hosted the tournament six times before. However, it has also hosted several other tournaments on the tour, such as the Benson & Hedges International Open (2000-2003), the British Open (1989-1992) and the State Express Classic. The Ryder Cup has been held four times at Brabazon, a record for the event, which has only been held once.

The par-72, 7,253-yard course offers a tough challenge for players this week. With fast, undulating greens, narrow fairways and water on several holes, accuracy is paramount at Brabazon.day Possibly one of the best and most intimidating courses in the UK. The second shot must be over water to reach the huge three-tiered green, where a mishit with an iron shot can mean a three-putt or worse.
What is the format of the British Masters?
The format of the British Masters is a standard stroke play tournament with 72 holes, and elimination after 36 holes (two rounds). The player with the lowest score in the four rounds will win the tournament.
Who are the competitors in the British Masters?
This week's player in focus is Tyrrell Hatton. The LIV golfer is currently ranked third and is playing in his first DPWT since joining the Saudi Reserve Tour in January. The Englishman played in the Dubai Desert Classic at the start of the year before moving to other tours. He has now completed his ban and will be doing everything he can to get into Luke Donald's Ryder Cup team.

As mentioned above, Donald was also on the field at The Belfry, keeping an eye on several newcomers looking to make their mark under his captaincy. Danny Willett, host of the 2021 and 2022 editions, was also in attendance, leading the charge for England, with the likes of Matt Wallace, Harry Hall and Laurie Canter aiming to become the first home champion since Richard Bland three years ago.
One to watch is 16-year-old amateur Chris King, who will be making his British Masters debut. The teenager made his PGA Tour debut in May at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, becoming the youngest golfer to make the cut on tour since 2015.

Ross has a keen interest in golf and plays it as often as he can, but the fact that he has two daughters under the age of six means his dream of breaking 80 will have to wait a little longer.
Although he picked up a club at the age of 11, he had few highlights on the golf course.
An eagle shot on the par-4 16th at Kinghorn stands out (although it's only 290 yards, so it doesn't matter).
