Wallace led by four shots early, but Alfredo Garcia Heredia birdied the final hole to tie the two at 11 under, forcing a playoff on the 18th tee at Kleinsüchel.
The Englishman's approach shot landed eight feet from the hole, putting pressure on the 42-year-old Garcia Heredia, who missed an 18-foot birdie chance.
The star was visibly proud as his putt fell into the hole to secure his win.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Wallace apologised for crying as he began to understand what it meant to win the game.
“It's been a tough day. It's been a tough day,” he said.
“I think I played pretty well – sorry for the tears!”
When he had regained his composure he added: “I’m delighted, I’m delighted.
“It was awesome. Alfredo and Biff (Andrew Johnston) played great and it wasn’t easy.

“I felt like I had scored, but I couldn’t get anywhere.
“I kept trying and kept trying. Alfredo finally did what he needed to do.
“I said to him when we went in, 'Great shot.' You know, it's a lot easier to make birdie when you need it on the last hole. And that's what I did.”
