Scottish sporting stars Robert MacIntyre and Andy Murray will team up for the BMW PGA Championship Celebrity Pro-Am at Wentworth later this month.
Murray, a three-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1, retired from tennis after the Paris Olympics this summer at the age of 37.
He will make his Celebrity Pro-Am debut at Wentworth on Wednesday, September 18, as a warm-up for Thursday’s BMW PGA Championship, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
Murray will have the perfect partner in MacIntyre, who was part of Europe’s Ryder Cup-winning team last year before going on to win his first PGA Tour title at the Canadian Open and further success at the 2024 Scottish Open.
McIntyre said of his pro-am partner: “Andy is a hero to many people in Scotland and around the world and I’m really excited to be competing with him at the BMW PGA Championship for the first time.
“He’s been totally devoted to tennis throughout his incredible career, but it looks like he’s been playing a lot of golf since retiring, so I’m looking forward to seeing if all his practice pays off!”
Murray will be competing in the pro-am alongside a host of other celebrities including footballers Gareth Bale, Jordan Pickford and Troy Deeney, cricketers James Anderson and Ollie Pope, TV star and comedian Michael McIntyre and Hollywood actor Tom Holland.
Meanwhile, McIntyre is part of a world-class field for Thursday’s BMW PGA Championship official event, which also includes Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Sean Lowry, Matt Fitzpatrick and Justin Rose, with Ryan Fox also returning to defend his title
Fellow former champions Luke Donald, Billy Horschel, Francesco Molinari and Danny Willett are also in action, as is recent Omega European Masters champion Matt Wallace.
Sky Sports will offer extended coverage of one of golf’s highlights, offering a selection of four rounds and more than 35 hours of live golf throughout the tournament.
