This is the end of an era.
Bernhard Langer, the most successful German male golfer of all time, plays his last BMW International Open in Munich this week. In fact, it is his 513th and final appearance on the DP World Tour.
The 66-year-old Langer, who has won 42 DP World Tour titles (in addition to three PGA Tour titles and 46 PGA Tour titles), had originally planned to make the 2024 Masters his final trip to Augusta National Golf Club, but he suffered an Achilles injury in February and has since made 2025 his last Masters appearance.
This is Langer's first return to Munich since 2012.
The BMW Golf Championship, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, is the oldest professional golf tournament in Germany. John Daly set the record for the lowest score in 2001 with 27 under par.
This is the fourth of five events on the DP World Tour European Circuit, but the sixth and final event that counts towards the Race to Dubai rankings. There is also a chance to qualify for the 152nd British Open at Royal Troon this week, which has yet to be played.
