1. His full name is Angel Hidalgo Portillo.
2. Hidalgo was born on April 28, 1998 in Marbella, a famous resort in Spain.
3. Encouraged by his father and grandfather, Hidalgo began playing at the Royal Guadalmina Golf Club at the age of two.
4. His father, also named Angel Hidalgo, is also a professional golfer.
5. Hidalgo is currently affiliated with RCG Las Brisas in Marbella.
6. He won the Spanish Amateur Championship twice, in 2016 and 2018.
7. Hidalgo has represented Spain in the European Amateur Team Championship three times and helped the Spanish team win the championship in 2017.
8. Hidalgo turned professional in 2018.
9. The Spaniard started competing on the Alpine Tour and Challenge Tour and won all three of his professional titles in 2021, culminating in victory at the Challenge Tour's Big Green Egg Germany.

10. Hidalgo has been competing on the DP World Tour since 2022 but has yet to win. He came close to that result when he finished fourth at the 2022 Andalusia Masters. After the first round, he shot an outstanding 63 to take the lead and close a one-shot deficit on the course record held by Bernhard Langer.
11. Hidalgo competes in his first major at the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon after qualifying for the final at Dundonald Links.
12. His best all-time OWGR ranking is No. 205.
