Captain Bryson DeChambeau of Crushers GC shot a 4-under 67 on Friday at LIV Golf Nashville.
COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. – Following his recent U.S. Open victory, Bryson DeChambeau showed resilience amid fatigue, carding a 4-under 67 on Friday at LIV Golf Nashville, buoyed by enthusiastic fan support.
Meanwhile, Abraham Ancer maintained his strong form with a flawless 7-under 64, seizing the early lead at The Grove. His performance propelled Fireballs GC to a four-shot lead in the team standings over DeChambeau’s Crushers GC, with Torque GC close behind.
Leading the charge for Fireballs, Ancer began with an opening birdie and surged ahead with four birdies in five holes on his back nine, closing with a crucial par save.
“I’m thrilled with how I battled today,” said Ancer, winner of this season’s LIV Golf Hong Kong event. “Even on the last hole, facing a tough situation, sinking a lengthy par putt was crucial. Ending on a bogey would’ve been disappointing.”

Tyrrell Hatton of Legion XIII trails Ancer by one stroke, highlighting his round with adept putting, needing only 24 putts.
In third place, substitute player John Catlin for Crushers GC, filling in for the injured Charles Howell III, fired a 5-under 66, featuring a streak of four birdies in five holes.
The team competition sees Fireballs GC leading with a cumulative score of -14, followed by Crushers GC at -10, and Torque GC at -9 after the first round.
Despite the fatigue, DeChambeau found energy from the crowd, acknowledging their support at every opportunity, notably after sinking a birdie at the par-3 15th.
“It’s a great honor to have such overwhelming support,” DeChambeau said. “This is what makes LIV special.”
