Because the tournament is co-sanctioned with the PGA Tour, the purse is much higher than the usual purse on the European Tour.
This year, the tournament's total prize money is $9 million. This means the champion will receive $1.62 million.
Rory McIlroy is the defending champion here.
Last year, McIlroy performed well on the 72nd hole to win the championship from local great Robert MacIntyre.
McIlroy will be competing with many stars.
Tommy Fleetwood, Xander Schauffele, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Max Homa, Rickie Fowler, Viktor Hovland, Wyndham Clark, Collin Morikawa and Ludvig Aberg all won.
