Scottish Open Prize Money – The first stop on the British Tour begins at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland, for the third Scottish Open jointly hosted by the DPWT and the PGA Tour. 75 golfers from each tour will compete in the tournament as a warm-up for the Open at Royal Troon next week. While more players will arrive in the UK next week for the Open at Royal Troon, some have already travelled to Scotland to get valuable practice time in conditions similar to those of the men’s tour’s final major.
Over the past decade, the club has become a staple of Scottish golf, hosting four Scottish Opens as well as the Professional Women's and Senior events. The event, along with the concurrent ISCO Championship in Kentucky, is the only co-sanctioned event between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. Prior to becoming a PGA Tour event two years ago, 22 of the past 24 winners were regular members of the DP World Tour. PGA players often view the event as a warm-up for the British Open. However, the past two years have seen wins by PGA stars Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy (last year), breaking the trend of DP World Tour members dominating the event.

This year’s Scottish Open will see 18 of the world’s top 30 players heading to North Berwick, making it the strongest field ever. As a co-sanctioned event, the PGA Tour and DP World Tour will have an equal field of 75 players each. Many players will be very motivated as the top three players who have not yet qualified will qualify for the British Open simply by finishing in the top ten at the Renaissance.
All 150 golfers at the 2024 Scottish Open will have an equal chance of winning the $1.575 million first prize, for a total purse of $9 million. McIlroy won the same prize in 2023 after a narrow victory over Robert MacIntyre at North Berwick. The total purse is $1 million more than the previous year.
The runner-up will receive $985,500, and the top 22 players will receive six-figure consolation prizes. The 65th-place finisher at the end of the weekend will also receive $21,600.
The co-sanctioned tournament is one of the highest purses on the PGA Tour this season, outside of the Signature Tournaments and Majors.
On the DP World Tour, the $9 million purse is the highest purse golfers will compete for all season. The Scottish Open is one of three Rolex Series events before the DP World Tour playoffs in November, with the Dubai Desert Classic and the BMW PGA Championship being held during the Scottish Open and Dubai Desert Classic, respectively.
For PGA Tour players, this week is one of the last chances to qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, with only four events remaining in the regular season. In addition to a generous first-place prize, the winner will receive 500 FedEx Cup points, equivalent to 8,000 Race to Dubai points for European players. For the top three players who have not yet received an exemption, this is also the last chance to qualify for the British Open.
