The European season phase of the DP World Tour continues, heading to the Netherlands this year for the KLM Open.
The fight was the first to be held at the Amsterdam International event since Sergio Garcia won the title over Nicolai Hojgaard five years ago.
Another Spaniard is the defending champion. Last year, Pablo Larrazabal won the DP World Tour for the second consecutive year by defeating compatriot Adrian Otaegui by two points to win the first prize check of $340,000 from the $2 million purse, but there is more to the prize money this time.
The total purse for the 2024 tournament is $2.5 million, of which $425,000 will go to the winner. The runner-up will receive $275,000.
Players are also vying for a spot on a separate European Swing table that will offer an additional $200,000 bonus to the winner following the conclusion of the BMW International Open in July.
The European Swing champion will also qualify for the Genesis Scottish Open and all tournaments in the last 9 holes of the season. Spain's Nacho Elvira is currently in the lead thanks to his victory at the Soudal Open, where he defeated Thomas Pieters of LIV Golf.
Perhaps the biggest incentive, though, is that the KLM Open offers two berths to the top two players who haven't earned an exemption into the final major of the year, Royal Troon.
With these and other motivational factors, it’s time for a fascinating four days of racing.
Here is the prize money distribution for the international tournament KLM Open.

Pablo Larrazabal will defend his title, while fellow Spaniard Adrian Otaegui, whom he defeated, will also be in the tournament. Of the two, Otaegui's most recent win was at the Volvo China Open in May. Larrazabal's best result so far this year was a T4 finish at the Dubai Desert Classic.
Most of the local players’ hopes rest on Joost Luiten, who is bidding for his third KLM Open title, having previously won in 2013 and 2016. Darius van Driel is another player competing on home soil who will also be hoping to impress.
Other notable names include Matt Wallace, who won the 2023 Corales Punta Cana Championship, and Luke List, who has two wins on the PGA Tour.
The tournament will also mark the 500th appearance of three-time DP World Tour champion Jamie Donaldson at the event.
Other notable names in the field include 2016 Masters champion Danny Willett, current European Swing leader Nacho Elvira and former LIV Golf star Bernd Wiesberger.
