The DP World Tour will visit Scotland for a unique tournament at three of the country's most revered courses – St Andrews Old Course, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.
That wasn't the only unusual aspect of the incident. It also features two different tournaments, a 72-hole stroke play pro championship and a team event where amateurs (including some very familiar faces) compete against the pros.
This season also features one of the highest purses on the DP World Tour, with pros competing for a $5 million purse, the fifth-highest purse so far this season.
Last year, 2022 U.S. Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick beat Marcus Armitage and Ryan Fox by three strokes to win on Monday. won a top prize of US$850,000. The tournament was reduced to 54 holes after rain prevented play on Saturday and Sunday.
That wasn’t the only success Fitzpatrick had that week. He also won the team title with his mother, Susan.
This year's stroke play winner will receive the same bonus as Fitzpatrick, while the runner-up will receive $528,000. Meanwhile, all top 10 winners will receive six-figure prizes.
In addition, there are 5,000 Race to Dubai ranking points, and players can compete for the chance to enter the top 70 in the standings and participate in the lucrative end-of-season DP World Tour Playoffs.
Even those who miss out can secure a DP World Tour card for next season by finishing in the top 110, while for those who finish in the top 10, those who don't yet have a PGA Tour card await.
