The Alfred Dunhill Championship is the second consecutive DP World Tour event to be held in South Africa, following last week's Nedbank Golf Challenge.
Nedbank, known as “Africa's Tycoon”, has a massive $6 million purse but spent much less this week at the iconic Leopard Creek Golf Club.
The total prize pool is €1.4 million ($1.47 million), with the winner receiving €255,000 ($268,000). This is the same race as last year, won by Louis Oosthuizen.
Oosthuizen will return to defend his title this week along with his Stinger GC LIV golf teammates Charl Schwartzel and Dean Burmester. Schwartzel has won the event four times and finished runner-up for the fifth time last year.
Other big names involved include Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Erik Van Rooyen.
The Alfred Dunhill Championship is the fourth event in the opening swing of the DP World Tour season, which will crown a champion after next week’s AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, the final DPWT event of 2024.
The inaugural Swing Champion will receive a $200,000 prize and an exemption to the Rolex Series and the Back 9 leg of the season, which hosts many major championships.
World ranking points and Dubai tournament ranking points are also available this week, as well as Ryder Cup points for European players.
